David Bowie Sets Views Record For Vevo, Topping Adele

Davis Bowie fans turned to online streaming to mourn the loss of the music legend.

On January 11th the date his death was announced his music catalog on the streaming service Vevo had over 51 million views. The therapeutic outpouring of Bowie video watching topped Adele’s previous record of 36 million views on October 23rd, 2015 when her single “Hello” was released.

The total views were across both the standalone Vevo platform and Youtube. Vevo says the views resulted in a 5,198% increase on that day alone compared to the previous week’s views of David Bowie videos.
