Streaming On Nintendo Wii Is Coming To An End

If you are a cord cutter still streaming on the classic Nintendo Wii, your Wii streaming days are coming to an end.

According to a report by TechRadar the Netflix app will be leaving the Wii on January 31st of next year. They cite an email sent by Nintendo:

“Unfortunately, Nintendo will suspend all video streaming services on Wii—including the Netflix Channel—after January 31, 2019.

We hope you’ll soon enjoy an even better Netflix experience with additional features on a supported device. Please visit for our device list.”

As you can see from the email, not only will Netflix be leaving the Wii, but all streaming services will be gone as well.

The Nintendo Wii was actually my gateway into cord cutting. I had the Netflix app and soon found enough content on Netflix to cut my cable subscription. Soon after WWE Network launched and since Wii did not support the WWE app, I bought a Roku. I have never considered cable again.
